Epic Games has announced a significant update for Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch 2, bringing a game-changing feature to the platform for the first time: mouse controls. The highly anticipated Patch 36.00 will launch on June 7, completely enhancing the Fortnite experience on Switch 2.

What’s New in Fortnite on Switch 2?

  • Smooth 60 FPS Gameplay: Enjoy buttery-smooth action with a stable 60 frames per second, delivering more responsive and fluid gameplay.

  • Improved Visuals: Higher resolutions (2176×1224 docked, 1600×900 handheld) combined with better textures, shadows, water effects, and clothing physics make the game look stunning.

  • Game Chat Support: Communicate easily with up to three friends in-game, improving teamwork and strategy.

  • Replay System: Relive your best moments from fresh perspectives to learn and improve your skills.

  • Video Capture Feature: Quickly record your epic plays and share them with the community using the Capture button.

  • Joy-Con 2 Mouse Controls: The new update lets you use Joy-Con 2 controllers as a mouse for precise aiming and UI navigation.

Why Mouse Controls on Joy-Con 2 Matter

With this update, players can customize buttons ZL and ZR for primary and secondary clicks and even switch movement controls to the right analog stick—perfect for left-handed players. This upgrade brings the Switch 2’s gameplay experience closer to PC-level precision.

Exclusive Wishing Star Emote for Early Players

To celebrate the launch, players who log into Fortnite on Switch 2 before March 31, 2026, will receive the exclusive Wishing Star Emote—a special gift to mark the occasion.

What’s Missing? Save The World Mode

It’s important to note that the Save The World PvE mode is not available on Nintendo Switch 2 yet, as the focus remains on Battle Royale and other core game modes.
