In the world of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the line between hunter and hunted is razor-thin. While stealth is your most valuable asset, a well-stocked arsenal is the key to survival. Whether you favor a non-lethal approach, a run-and-gun assault, or a combination of both, the game rewards players who are willing to explore and uncover its many secrets. Unlike the original, this remake has a much more open-ended design that encourages a variety of playstyles, and its hidden weapons and items are the most high-value rewards you can find. This is a comprehensive guide to unlocking all of the weapons in Metal Gear Solid Delta, a powerful and detailed breakdown of where to find every piece of equipment that Snake can get his hands on, from the early game to the final act.
The Essentials: The Virtuous Mission
The game’s prologue, “The Virtuous Mission,” serves as a tutorial for the game’s core mechanics and offers a chance to get some crucial early-game weapons. These weapons, however, will be lost when you start “Operation Snake Eater,” so you’ll have to find them all over again. The essential weapons you can get early on are:
- MK22 “Hush Puppy”: This tranquilizer pistol is your default non-lethal weapon. It’s a key tool for stealth, and you’ll have it from the start of the mission.
- Survival Knife: A large-bladed knife used for field operations. You’ll also have this by default.
- M1911: A .45 caliber automatic pistol with high stopping power. This is an unmissable weapon that you will receive as you progress through the main story.
- XM16E1: A state-of-the-art assault rifle. In the Virtuous Mission, you can find this weapon hidden under the wooden bridge in the Dolinovodno area. In Operation Snake Eater, you can find it again in a small storeroom in the Graniny Gorki Lab Exterior.
- SVD Sniper Rifle: This can be found in two locations. During the Virtuous Mission, it’s located in the Dremuchij North area, to the right of the first group of enemies. In Operation Snake Eater, you can find it in a weapon storeroom in Ponizovje West, an optional area to the left of the main path.
- M37 Shotgun: A powerful shotgun that is perfect for close-quarters combat. In the Virtuous Mission, it can be found hidden among some metal crates in the ruins of Rassvet. In Operation Snake Eater, you can find it in the Chyornaya Peschera Cave, on the right path.
Expanding Your Arsenal: Operation Snake Eater
Once you’ve started the main mission, the game opens up, offering a much wider array of weapons to find. Most of these are hidden in hard-to-reach areas, rewarding players who are willing to explore. Some of the most valuable finds include:
- AK-47: This classic assault rifle can be found in two places. It’s located at the top of the metal stairs in the Rassvet ruins, and you can also find it in a storeroom in the Bolshaya Past Base.
- M63: A light machine gun that is perfect for when things get loud. This weapon is hidden in a locked storage room in Svyatogornyj East, an optional area that is east of Svyatogornyj West.
- Scorpion: This submachine gun is a little trickier to get. It’s located in a locked storeroom in the Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: East Wing. You can access this room by using the Officer Uniform disguise, or by dragging a guard over to the door to have them open it.
- RPG-7: This rocket launcher is a must-have for boss fights and can be found in a small shed in the Krasnogorje Mountainside area, near the anti-air cannons.
- Cigarette Gas Spray: This non-lethal weapon can be found in an office in the Graniny Gorki Lab B1 West area.
- Mosin Nagant: This tranquilizer sniper rifle is a reward for a very specific task: defeating the boss “The End” non-lethally. If you manage to take him down without killing him, he will drop this powerful weapon.
- EZ Gun: This is the ultimate non-lethal weapon, as it provides infinite tranquilizer ammo, a built-in suppressor, and it even helps you recover stamina and raises your camo index. You can get this weapon by either beating the game on Very Easy difficulty or by earning the “Markhor” title, which is given for collecting every single plant and animal in the game.
Special and Unlocked Weapons
Some of the game’s most powerful weapons are not found in the world but are unlocked by completing specific challenges or by finishing the game. These are the pinnacle of your collection and are often the reward for a job well done.
- Fork: A strange but surprisingly useful weapon that you’ll get automatically when you are captured and sent to the prison cell in Groznyj Grad. It can be used to eat animals and plants that you collect.
- Single Action Army: This classic revolver is unlocked as a progression reward in the Groznyj Grad Torture Room, but it is also a permanent unlock for New Game Plus once you complete the story.
- Patriot: This powerful, unlimited-ammo assault rifle is a reward for completing the game’s main story. It is the ultimate weapon for a New Game Plus run, and a clear signal that you have mastered the art of stealth and combat.
